NEXT EVENT:
April Monthly Run on Monday 20st April, probably from the Beach
Shelter
.
Panaga Athletics Association
This is one of Panas' fastest courses, despite
genuinie suspiscion that it might be 1% longer than
the measured 5 and 10 km.

The times were marvelous. Many people ran their
PB, most notably Louis with 24:00, Peter with his
sub 20 and young man George nearly hit the 22
minute mark.  Robert also hit a time that he hadn't
seen for a long while, Bengi returned to the sub 23
minute area and Ruth came close to 20 minutes.
One would suspect that she will become a 20
minute breaker.

Zammudin and Dollah were heroic on the 10 km
with nearly 10 times around E1. Great effort and,
as expected, respetable times.

Well done to all runners. Special thanks to
Hanneke for her usual neatly managed
timekeeping.
Friday 13th Dec 2008, E1 Loops
The mid year results gave
some unexpected and well
deserved outcomes. See the
table to the right.

Thanks to the numerating
efforts of Kelvin the top 3 for
each category will receive a
prize.
The Old Camp Course is a Panas classic which
has seen an impressive number of records in the
past.

This time we may have set the record for number
of participants. Twenty seven runners joined, of
whom 3 were new. Welcome!

Chairman Paul gave out the prizes as per below
results. The serious training over the last couple
of months of Panas Bernhard, Louis and Peter
paid off.

The course this time was possibly a touch short,
at least if we believe the wristtop GPS watches
that our gadget loving runners were wearing. In
any case, it's a classic and perhaps a classic with
a small error.

Times were very fast and some people set their
PB. Zamuddin is getting faster and faster on the
10 km and we note that Robert might soon be
touching the 19 minute barrier. Jan-Willem
dipped below the 19 minutes, although there
were whispers that this man had been hitching a
ride on the back of one of the security vehicles.
The things people do!

Thanks to Hanneke and Cristina for their well
organized time keeping and thanks to all runners,
especially the new ones for participating. Keep
joining us on Monday and Friday as well!
Friday 13th March, Mad March Mile
The times on this course were good and we saw
Zammudin extending his 10 km talent to the 5 km.
Robert nearly broke the 19 minute barrier and Anna did
well with an under 23 minute 5 km.  It was good to see
Zofian, Azlan and Irwan in the running as well!

Paul did a good time on the 10 km, after he had laid the
course in the blazing sun. Thanks Paul!

Thanks also to Hanneke and Cristina for looking after
the timekeeping so well and thanks to Peter and
Jeanine, who served refreshments & lovely bites for the
heated and tired runners.

The Mad March Mile preceeds
the Annual General Meeting. It
turned out that the timing was a
bit unfortunate since it clashed
with the annual Sunset
Silhouette Dancing rehearsal.

Four kids participated, they all
got a certificate and were very
proud. By democartic decision
the Mile turned into a 1.1 km,
so this one goes forward as the
"11/16th".

Many people had shown an
interest prior to the event. We
should give this event another
try in the near future.

RESULTS 11/16th
Friday 20th March, Old Camp Course
Nowadays we have about 5 courses to choose from for
a Monthly Run but in the old days the Old Camp Course
used to be the only Monthly Run for Panas. That's why
we see many records on this course. Last time some
people complained that the course was 60 meters
shorter than 5 km. This time it was the opposite. Some
runners noted that the course was too long. Meanwhile
Axel had applied his backyard science and proven that
the course was exactly 5000 m. Hence, one must
conclude that both history and Axel are right. We'll keep
this classic at its current turning points for accuracy and
consistency sake.

We were glad to see newcomer Dan who did a good
time and it is also good to see Zofian re-entering into
running.

The 5 km times were pretty good, despite the heat.
Peter nearly broke the 20 minutes. Bengi performed
consistent on the 5 km and Hans did a respectable
24:51. Liz improved her last time by about a minute and
Matt surprised with a sub 24 minute time, which is a lot
less than half his 10 km times (see below)! Matt seems
to have a surprising short distance ability.

Thanks to the timekeepers Hanneke and Jeannette, and
to all runners who kept going despite the heat.
